Run a knockout in one click
Paste your teams, build the bracket, then click a winner in each match to send them through. Changing an earlier winner clears everything downstream, so a corrected result can never leave a stale final behind.
How byes work
If your team count is not a power of two, the bracket rounds up to the next one and the top seeds get a bye: with 5 teams the bracket is 8, so 3 teams skip round one and 2 teams play for the last round-two spot. With 6 teams, 2 teams get a bye and 4 play in round one. Full teams always play; nobody gets a bye in the final. For the full explanation, with a table for every team count from 3 to 16, read What is a bye in a tournament?
Made your teams with our other tools?
Paste the team list straight from the Random Team Generator: its copy format is understood here, so “Team 1 (5): Ana, Ben” becomes just “Team 1” in the bracket. Need names for those teams first? The Team Name Generator has thousands.
Frequently asked questions
How many teams can the bracket hold?
From 2 to 32 teams. The bracket size rounds up to the next power of two (4, 8, 16 or 32) and any spare slots become byes for the top seeds.
Who gets a bye?
The top seeds, in order. The team you list first is the top seed, so put your strongest or highest-ranked teams at the top of the list if seeds matter to you.
I clicked the wrong winner. Can I fix it?
Yes. Click the correct winner in that match and everything after it resets, so no stale result can survive into the final.
Can I print or share the bracket?
Yes. Print gives you a clean copy without the buttons, and Copy results puts the whole bracket on your clipboard as plain text you can paste anywhere.
